Note: Increased draw size but again no apparent seeding, although the pairs at the top and bottom of the draw suggest some form of seeding was in place.

A furore erupted regarding the Mixed final. Eliot Teltscher apparently racially abused Leslie Allen in the second set, and she left the court in tears. She was persuaded to return and complete the match but the match seemed to leave a bad taste in Leslie's mouth; she withdrew from Wimbledon, played sparingly the rest of the season and was actually never the same player again.
