Martina is now the oldest player, man or woman, to ever win a Grand Slam event, at 46 years and 3 months. The previous recordholder among the men was Norman Brookes who was a month younger when he won the mens doubles at the Australian Championships in 1924. The women's record was previously held by Margaret du Pont who won the 1962 mixed doubles at Wimbledon at the age of 44 years and 3 months.
