Final

Court/Riessen [1] vs. Jones/Stolle [2] NOT PLAYED

NOTE"Matches finished so late on the last day that a shortened men's doubles final was held, by agreement the final was declared the best of three advantage sets instead of five. The mixed doubles finalists Riessen, Court, Stolle and Jones decided to split the $1600 prize-money.
No mixed doubles competition played till 1987 and it was the last time the champiomships were played in Brisbane".

This decision divested a lot of doubles-specialist of the chance to winning Slams.
